About us
Welcome!
Hi, I’m Kimberly! I’m a clinical psychologist, and “good-enough”mum to two small children, and a very mediocre housewife. Like many parents, my time for creative pursuits is limited, but after having kids, I found joy in baking and, more recently, crafting. While these creative outlets started as something just for fun, they’ve become a way for me to connect with friends and my wider social circles sharing delicious treats along the way.
The Story Behind Little Big Clothing Company
When I became a parent, I struggled to find clothing that ticked all the boxes; durable, fun, full of childlike essence, and uniquely personalised without the need to plaster my kids’names across everything. While mini-adult fashion is undeniably cute, it never resonated with me. I felt it subtly added to the pressures kids already face to grow up too soon.
In my work as a psychologist, I see many adults who find it difficult to truly relax, have fun, and embrace spontaneity. So much of what I do is about reshaping childhood narratives; helping people reconnect with their core selves, strengthening their confidence, and fostering self-compassion. This got me thinking about how the messages we give children shape the way they see themselves and the world.
I wanted to create something that allows kids to just be kids; bold, bright, free-spirited, and unburdened by the rush to grow up. Little Big Clothing Company is about celebrating childhood in all its magic while encouraging us as parents to reflect on the narratives we pass down. My mission is to nurture the stories of tomorrow by embracing all kids, in all their uniqueness, today.
My Journey as a Psychologist
I’ve spent years studying the human experience, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology, and a combined Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology. My research focused on mental time travel, exploring whether different drug users experience difficulties with this cognitive ability. Alongside my supervisors, we published six articles in respected psychology journals, three of which I led as the primary author.
Clinically, my career began in the field of substance use and dependence, working closely with clients in the criminal justice system across three men’s prisons in Victoria. After starting a family, I transitioned into private practice, where I now work primarily with adults (and the occasional teenager). I’m an AHPRA-endorsed Clinical Psychologist and an approved supervisor for training psychologists. My passion lies in helping people strengthen their sense of self and move beyond past experiences that keep them feeling stuck.
I never envisioned myself stepping into the world of fashion, but with social media amplifying the influence of style in children’s lives, I saw an opportunity to communicate something more meaningful.
Bringing Littles and Bigs Together
As a parent, I like to think I take a thoughtful approach to choosing clothes for my kids. At the heart of Little Big Clothing Company is the belief that clothing isn’t just about what kids wear, it’s about how they feel in it. This brand is about creating cool, comfortable, and playful pieces that spark joy, connection, and nostalgia; not just for little ones, but for the “littles” that still exist in all of us.
A Bit More About Me
Cooking and baking have always been passions of mine, but during the COVID pandemic, I took it a step further, learning to decorate cakes and cookies through online workshops and cake-in-a-box kits. It became another creative outlet that brought me joy during an otherwise challenging time.
I also started my own private practice during the pandemic, where I continue my work in psychology, helping people rediscover their confidence and sense of fun. Through both my work and Little Big Clothing Company, I hope to encourage people, big and little, to embrace creativity, playfulness, and the joy of being themselves.
